the head width need to be completed when "Size All Columns to Fit"
the head width need to be completed when "Size All Columns to Fit"
Version 1.4.1.1009 (x64)
win10 64 bit
current phenomenon:
as attached,
1. pressing the shortcut Ctrl+Num + to Size All Columns to Fit;
2. get some colume head trimmed in width(not completed);
question:
i see the current width is determined by the longest value of the beneath lines, while it's expected NOT to have the head trimmed in width bcz of it, the head itself needs to be completed to be displayed;
expectation:
add a logic to check the length of the head in this scenario.
thanks.

Thank you for the suggestion void_hero,
The next version of Everything will include the header text when sizing all columns to fit.

And by the same token, IMO, there should be (an option for) some constraints.
Like if you had a bunch of file names that were 255 chars , you'd probably not want Name to be sized to 255 but rather as some maximal size, based on window size, such that at least some of the Path column would still be visible.

yup, ditto.
this is also what i want to add here, while 255 chars exists theoretically, bcz of the Windows path limit, it seldomly occurs practically in my daily usage;
anyway, my suggestion here is:
opposite to Ctrl+Num + , adding the Ctrl+Num -, just like zoom in/zoom out, means revert before Ctrl+Num +, to make it adjustable accordingly.
thanks.

Re: the head width need to be completed when "Size All Columns to Fit"
Everything 1.5.0.1275a makes some minor tweaks to the size all columns to fit window feature.
Everything will now try to keep more of the name and path columns in view when there are multiple columns.
Hold down Ctrl when resizing an Everything window to size all columns to fit window.
or, press Ctrl + Shift + Num+
or, press Alt + 1
or, press Alt + 2
or, press Alt + 3
or, Hold down shift and right click the result list column header and click Size all columns to fit window.
I will consider an option (Ctrl + Num- to revert auto sizing column widths).
Thank you for the suggestion.
Making the size all columns to fit window feature more accessible might help?

I tried adding some constraints and found I always wanted to view the full column width.And by the same token, IMO, there should be (an option for) some constraints.
