Search History can be "awkward" if doing Deletes


Search History
- is awakward (with default action being, Open)


if you want to Delete,
you select what you want to delete
& Delete
- but, at that point the items are only "no longer shown"
in the Search History list,
but they do still exist - until you hit 'OK'
- though once you hit Delete & no longer see the items,
one is apt to believe they have actually been deleted
at that point,
&
as one does not want to Open anything
(all one was wanting to do was to Delete items)
one is apt to then hit 'Cancel'
- & Cancel cancels the Delete (at that point)
which then undeletes the Deletes
so, to avoid Open after Delete one Cancels canceling the Delete

what you need to do is a Delete, followed by an OK
& that isn't... "intuitive",
as in one might expect an OK to act as an Open ???,
which is the reason one might go for the Cancel
(which then ends up negating everything one had just done)

- it's just an awkward situation there... ?

You are right: a bit unintuitive.

Would it help if the OK button text gets changed to "Save"? Or adding an extra "Save" button?

My Android smartphone: Clock, Alarms, Delete:-
When I select an alarm and choose the Trash button, the popup reads "Delete this alarm?" with two buttons "cancel" and "delete"
I suspect that if NotNull's button was "delete" rather than "OK", the meaning would be obvious.
A long-form text of the button would be "OK, Yes, Please; delete this object"
But you have probably already thought of this ...
