Add "Force Rebuild" to Index menu?

Post by raccoon »

Request to add "Force Rebuild" to the Index menu.

I just think this would be a lot more convenient.

The Rescan submenu is always grayed out, btw.

i agree with you 👋🏼👋🏼..

in my early days "years ago" with "everything" i was searching the menus looking for a fast one click "force rebuild index" option but i didn't find it.

now days i do prefer to exit "everything" and manually delete "everything.db" file than goto tools>option>bla bla bla to do the job.

totally support and recommend this suggestion ✅✅.

I will consider a Force Rebuild option under the Index menu.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Forcing a rebuild is not something you should need to do.

For now, please consider a keyboard shortcut to force a rebuild:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Keyboard tab on the left.
  • To the right of Show commands containing, search for: force
  • Select Index | Force Rebuild
  • Click Add....
  • Press a new keyboard shortcut, eg: Ctrl + F5 and click OK.
  • Click OK.

Indeed, it's not something I should need to do, but on very rare occasion I still find some synchronized objects after performing thousands of moves and other operations. So before I go to batch a huge job, I rebuild just to be on the safe side. All fresh and assured accurate.

Thanks for pointing out I can assign a hotkey already.
