PDF's are not being looked at

Post by mariovee »

Sorry, new here, but I tried searching using the advanced search, and it seems PDF's are not being looked at. Word docs in the same folder do popup. Using Version 1.4.1.1022 (x64), am I doing something wrong?

Please try the Advanced Search in Everything 1.4 to setup a content search:
  • In Everything, from the Search menu, click Advanced Search.
  • Change A word of phrase in the file to the content you would like to find.
  • Combine with other filters for the best performance.
  • For example:
    • change Extensions to: txt;doc;pdf to limit the search to txt, doc and pdf files.
    • Change the first Date modified field to: 1/1/2017 to limit the search to files modified this year.

Everything uses the system to render PDF files with the PDF-associated iPreviewHandler.

Please make sure you have a PDF viewer with IPreviewHandler support installed.

Do previews of PDF files work in Windows Explorer?
-You should see the same preview in Everything.

Please make sure Everything is installed correctly and is not running as administrator:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the General tab on the left.
  • Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything.
  • Uncheck Run as administrator.
  • Check Everything Service. (Please make sure this is tick-checked and not square-checked)
  • Click OK.
  • Exit Everything (right click the Everything tray icon and click Exit).
  • Restart Everything.

Please make sure you are using the x64 version of Everything (x64 is shown under Help -> About -> Version)

Please let us know if the issue persists.
