Post by Biff »

All of my offline volumes / indexes, respectively their contents (not a single item / file left) suddenly are gone of both of my instances I have:

Why is this? Can I get them back?

Unfortunately, upgrading to 1344 will require a rebuild.

This is necessary to fix a potentially corrupt database.
You'll need to plug these drives in again at some stage for Everything to reindex them.

There might be a few changes to the database requiring a rebuild during alpha.
The database shouldn't change once in beta.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

The most recent version 1.5.0.1344a -- which you have installed by the looks of your screenshot -- requires an (automatic) database rebuild because of a new database structure.
That also means that offline volumes have to be reconnected to be included using this new structure.

EDIT: Too late, void already replied ...

Oops, If only I had known that beforehand.

Do file lists still work done before the update?

Thank you very much!

Yes, there's no changes to file lists.

This info was part of the version announcement.

I always read what was changed or added
before applying the update to my portable installation.
There is a list with the newest version entries in the Changes part of
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=9787
In the case of 1344a there is the entry
[1344] fixed an issue with sorting property strings. (this version will automatically perform a database rebuild)

Ah, OK, many thanks for the link.

I (almost) never read those changes (unfortunately obviously). I guess I'll rather start with that for fear of one of the next update announcements might say something like: This version will automatically perform a disk formatting before installing (so after you actually do not need Everything anymore because there are no files to index, just unistall it).
