Cannot unistall and re-install Everything

Having used Everything for years on my old Windows 7 PC, I recently installed it on my Windows 8.1 PC.

Everything didn't run on the Windows 8.1 PC so I tried to uninstall it. The process stuck a few times because it said everything.exe was running. Having acknowledged these messages it went on to say Everything was unistalled but the Everything entry still remained in the Control Panel Programs and Features listing. everything.exe sill exists in the Programs/Everything folder too. This can't be deleted as it says Everything.exe is running. I have searched through all the Task Manager listings and see no evidence of it.

I tried to install Everything again and it tells me it is installed. There is no evidence that it is installed and I can find no menu entries anywhere. Clicking on everything.exe has no effect. Nothing happens.

It seems that I am stuck. I can neither do a complete uninstall, nor a new install. I really want to get Everything running again and would appreciate some help to ensure I can totally uninstall before attempting a re-install, or just go for a re-install over whatever is already stuck in my system.

What version of Everything is installed?

To check which version is installed:

• Right click Everything.exe in C:\Program Files\Everything.
• Click Properties.
• Click the Details tab.
• What is the File version displayed?

Please try installing Everything 1.3.4.686 x86 over the existing install and then uninstall that.
This should completely remove any existence of any version of Everything on your computer.

Thank you for your help. I went through the list in the link to manually remove all traces of the previous installation, and have now successfully installed the latest version from your website.

It works fine! A great tool, so I am glad to get it going again.
