How can one make Everything not to show duplicate entries of the same file / folder when using this (without excluding the folders / drives here, because if the drive is available I would like to have the updated results: http://i.imgur.com/rmKR6Mo.png): http://i.imgur.com/zDvCs4W.png

Current settings (to try) to show the current / updated data / files / folders off all of the drives being plugged in at the moment and to show the content of (external) drives / hard disks not being plugged in at the moment: http://i.imgur.com/m4Zoxvk.png and http://i.imgur.com/BQSAy2r.png
Are these settings correct?

NTFS should be picking things up automatically.
So remove A & W [Root Beer] from the Folder list, no need for that, & that's whats causing the duplications.

Hmmm, I am not quite sure to understand, but before I added A: and W: to that tab the external drives had not been shown anymore. And when I remove such drive letters form that tab Everything does not show them anymore. And when I plug of the drives without having their drive letters in the folder tab Everything does not show its files / folders anymore.

When I use the folder tab the files and folders of plugged off drives are kept displaying.

Yes, I had supposed that. But what for should one use that folder list otherwise? On the help pages I have understand, using that folder tab should keep the data available in Everything when the drives are not plugged in. Am I wrong?
Well, I am not quite sure what this A & W means, but Duff beer is not bad either.

I am having the same problem with duplicate listings.

Since I was trying to clean up duplicate files at the time I was only looking at file names, then noticed when pairs of files were disappearing that the paths and timestamps were the same as well.

For example:

Dupe info Capture.JPG (58.89 KiB) Viewed 5700 times

Any suggestions about causes or possible fixes?

Are you using a File Lists or Folders index?
If you are, & unless you have some specific reason for them, remove them, as (& assuming your drives are NTFS) your drives should be picked up automatically.


(Also note that same named files are "duplicates" [for removal purposes] in name only.)

While perhaps we solved the problem locally, there is apparently really need to unite results, in certain circumstances. We need to examine it further.
Maybe:
If you don't want to monitor the all Drive (offline results) except monitor one folder whitin this drive.

Removing the entries under Options>Folders did solve the problem.

I misunderstood the purpose of the option. I thought the entries automatically restricted, rather than added to, the search results.

The help pop-up, says "List of folders to include in the Everything database."

Now I am assuming it would be to do things like point to a folder to index on a drive that wasn't automatically searchable.
If the pop-up had used the word add in instead of include, it would make it's purpose clearer. Another fix would be if the box was labeled "Folders to add to database"
