Can Everything Search be forced to stay in RAM...

Post by Jose Hidalgo »

... for quicker access ?

In my computer, when I haven't used Everything Search for some hours, Windows Seven takes it off RAM. So when I invoke it again, it takes ages to load. I even have a "Cancel Search ?" dialog box that appears all the time while it's starting.

So, is there a way to keep Everything Search always in RAM and always immediately accessible ?

Thanks. :)

How much RAM is Everything using?
How much RAM does your OS have?

AFAIK most of Everything's work is already done in RAM.

I have 4 GB. Everything takes less than 50 MB. This is not about that.

This is about Windows unloading idle processes from RAM, including Everything.

So I'm asking if there's a way to stop that, that's all.

Yes, I understand that, just finding it odd that it is even happening.
Seems you have sufficient RAM & Everything isn't using all that much.

Maybe if you were doing "folding at home", BOINC or similar...?

AFAIK Everything has nothing to cause it to not page out of RAM?
Maybe there's a small utility out there to do that?
