Changed INI file but default sort order is still "Name"

Post by jshirley825 »

Hello. I've played around with this for about an hour and can't figure it out. I want ALL my searches to be sorted by date modified. I have done Tools>Options>Home>Sort: Date Modified as well as changed the ini file (always_keep_sort=1).

I have deleted and redownloaded (x64 version). The program opens with date modified selected, but always reverts back to name whenever I type anything in the search bar. Any help?

Have you turned off completely Everthing (all instances) when modifying the .ini also in the system tray?

Did you know that Everything does not index date modified, file creation etc.. and sorting is slow, the new version will index this information.

Try Everything x32 and check if you have the same.

Please make sure you are changing the correct Everything.ini.

The Everything.ini can be in two places depending on the value of "Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything" setting from Tools -> Options -> General.

If "Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything is enabled, the Everything.ini in %APPDATA%\Everything is used.
Otherwise, the Everything.ini in the same location as your Everything.exe is used.

The Everything 1.4 Beta is now live which supports indexing date modified by default. In the beta, turn on fast date modified sorting from Tools -> Options -> Indexes to always keep the date modified sort.
