Hi there, *(sorry English isn't my main, I am French, from Québec)
My first message on this board. Excellent software by the way, respect!! It would be nice to see more details while the software is creating or updating the database. Especially when you add one or more network resource, or some other options like Folder Sizes, the scanning process will take some time. Trying to display a " % " of database done would probably end chaotic (I'm totally guessing there) but if you could display something like How many folders done/total to scan, How deep (Subfolders) the scan engine currently is, anything that can help users get an idea where the scan is.
Thank you
Paul
More verbose while Creating / Updating DB ?
Re: More verbose while Creating / Updating DB ?
Thanks for your suggestions.
I am considering a statistic page to show more information, eg: how many files and folders are indexed, how many corrupt files, deleted files records, timings, etc...
For verbose information you could show the verbose debug console.
Folder Sizes can be enabled from Tools -> Options -> Indexes -> Index folder size. (With Everything 1.4 or later)
Folder indexes could show a progress bar, most of the updating is done in the background.
Currently, in Everything 1.4.1 you can track the progress of folder indexing from Tools -> Options -> Folders. ([updating] will appear next to the folder currently being updated, this could probably be shown as a % updated)

It's quicker to index an entire NTFS volume than calculate how long it will take to index.Trying to display a " % " of database done would probably end chaotic (I'm totally guessing there) but if you could display something like How many folders done/total to scan, How deep (Subfolders) the scan engine currently is, anything that can help users get an idea where the scan is.
