After installing Version 1.4.1.935 (x64) I have noticed that if I close an Everything instance/window using ALT+F4 or the X (Close) button in the banner the process is not unloaded from memory.
Resource monitor shows multiple instances of the image, each with 500MB working set sizes.
The instances also appear in the system tray where they can be exited one-by-one (right click | Exit) (or end process in resource manager).
Using the menu File | Exit (or Ctrl+Q) exits cleanly.

Zombie processes left if ALT+F4 or X used to close Everything
Re: Zombie processes left if ALT+F4 or X used to close Everything
If you uncheck "Run in background" , Everything will end when you close the search window.
However, it is generally more efficient to have one instance of Everything with multiple search windows if you need them (right click tray icon, new search window), rather than starting multiple copies of Everything.
Unless, of course, there is a need for multiple instances with different options.
