Everything service to run full-time

Post by Just Visiting »

I don't want the Everything service to run full-time.

Just recently I noticed Everything didn't find some files which I know existed. I uninstalled it and reinstalled again Everything. The files appeared in the search.

As such, am I correct to assume that you have to have the Everything service enabled or it won't be able to find newly added files, say, since after the initial installation date?

Correct, Everything will only find new files when the Everything Service is running.

If you stop the Everything Service, Everything will no longer find new files until it is restarted.

Notes:
The Everything Service should consume no CPU and about 1MB of RAM.
Stopping and starting the Everything requires administrative privileges.
