I am still not fully clued in on filters/macros/bookmarks and the like.
I suspect that I am not using Everything 1.5 properly.
I suspect that I should have a macro that:-
(a) resets the Filter to Everything and
(b) loads the search string.
I do not ask for a solution at this stage; I am interested in knowing if this (macro with shortcut key) is the way to go about it.
That is, I am confident that I can assign a shortcut key to a macro that resets the filter and loads a search string.
But is there already a better way of doing this?
Thanks, Chris
But here I am again making use of filters ("Picture") while triggering in a new search from the most-recently-used search strings. Of course nothing shows up until after I have slapped my forehead and then selected the filter "Everything".filter search reset - an idea?
Re: filter search reset - an idea?
You can double-click Picture (in the status bar) & it will reset the Filter to Everything.
(Then you can Alt+back-arrow to go back to Picture, if you really wanted it.)

Thanks!
[1] Have you ever thought of changing your name to "Everything"?
Thanks again, Chris
Re: filter search reset - an idea?
Quick tip:
I defined "Home" settings. Whenever I get unexpected results, I press the "Home" keyboard shortcut to get back to a well known starting point.
(after checking the statusbar that is; that fixes most of these issues)
My Home settings are described here.
Pressing 'Alt + Home' reverts back to the Home Settings
(I added a 'Fn + Ctrl' keyboard shortcut for my laptops as this is quite easy to type)
Home settings can be configured under Menu => Tools => Options => General => Home
