indexing

when I indexed my c: drive about 100 gb it went very quickly about 5 minutes However, indexing the network drive 400 gb is taking hours. any suggestions?

GB or TB?

100 GB seems mighty small these days (I say as I am working on a 500 GB HDD).
400 TB would seem mighty large .

5:min seems mighty long.
Hours, I couldn't fathom.

My 500 GB will index < 1:min.
Running a powerhouse - XP, Intel E4300, 2 GB RAM.

So tell more about your setup.
Computer, CPU, memory...

The network drive?
Attached how? USB? And what, USB 1.0?
If so, that would be an issue right there .
