app hang in Windows 7, even as admin

Post by JimKaram »

I have full admin privileges. Further, I've set everything to "run as an administrator". The OS is Windows 7 Professional. Everything seems to install OK, but I get an app hang soon after it appears to start. Any ideas?

What version of Everything?

Does Errorlog.txt (in the Everything install directory) show anything?

Run Everything in -debug mode & paste the results here.

I'm trying to run the latest version from your website, but I can't read "about" to be sure.

There is not any Errorlog.txt file in the Everything install directory.

I invoked everything with -debug, but no other file was generated into the install directory. Perhaps is it placed somewhere else? If so, under what filename?

Here's the pasted apphang information...

This http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic50268.html points to Charter Cable & Puresight content filtering software. Any of that apply to you.

PS: No "winsflt.dll" on my computer. I know that for sure, as I used Everything to search for it ;-).

Yep, that was the culprit. Puresight apparently furnishes the parental filter in the Computer Associates Internet Security Suite. I had it set for an "adult" user, but it apparently still tries to filter something. When I disabled it by running as a CA ISS administrator, then Everything works OK. Thanks for the guidance.
