Any way to search my phone sd card?

Post by vsub »

The phone is connected to USB 3 port but the windows search is really slow.
Even the ability to create a file list will be enough(I want to copy certain files created since certain date till today)

Indexes=>Folders don't see the card and I don't want to take it out from the phone

Much will depend on the operating system of your phone (Blackberry, Symbian, iOs, Windows, Android, ..), but if it is Android, here is one way to do this (keep reading until the end of the thread).

Thanks NotNull. I read the thread.
Long story short:
In phone, you need to install an app that will create a FTP server. (like Wi-Fi FTP)
In WIndows, you can connect to FTP server (Map network drive > Connect to a Web site ...), but it isn't enough.
You need to install another app that will make this connection as a drive (like FtpUse).
NotNull wrote:I did a test for you with one of the utilities that map a FTP server connection as a Windows drive.
I used FTPuse for that (just because I already had it lying around on my system), but other utilities will do too.
(link: https://www.ferrobackup.com/map-ftp-as-disk.html )

Did a

Code: Select all

 ftpuse.exe X: <IP-adress Android device> /PORT:2121
(more options available. See documentation or run ftpuse.exe /?)

and got an extra X:-drive on my system.
Then, you will able to index the drive by Everything (use Folder indexing).

You deserve an award for that :D
(It is a long and somewhat confusing conversation. Guess @vsub is lost in there somewhere, never to be heard from again ..)
Good summary.

Phones often use virtual folders which Everything can not index yet.

Hopefully indexing virtual folder support will be a available in the next version of Everything.

I don't have much free time and to be honest,I remember about the thread today :P
I don't know if I need exactly that program on my android phone(lillipop)but I used the "File Manager +"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... ilemanager

I don't know what I am doing wroing but this is the result:

1.I am able to add the phone as a network location but not as a drive in My Computer and I can access the phone but I can't search it using the windows search(I have a fealing I disabled something related to scanning network locations before)
2.I am able to connect to the phone with Everything ETP but it shows 0 files(the strange thing is,I can connect using any link type)

I also don't see any kind of errors in the console

If you would like to test virtual folder indexing, please try the Everything 1.5 alpha.

Virtual Folder Indexing
It does work but it is slow(maybe my sd card is slow)
Internal storage - took maybe little more than a minute to display 21k objects
SD Card(SanDisk) - it took around 5 minutes to display 3.5k objects

Would it be possible to assign names to the custom folders
