Disable "Jump To" Option

Post by JaegerFox »

I had not noticed this feature of everything, and today I realized that Jump To appears in the status bar with the characters pressed. I'm usually used to just pressing a certain letter and finding the file, is it possible to disable this option?
Thanks

Can you post a screenshot to show what you mean?

Results list:

Code: Select all

Jump to
Type in the start of a filename to jump to it.

The jump to text is displayed in the status bar.

Statusbar is configurable.
I didn't look, but maybe that message is too, not sure?

Thank, @therube. Now I get it:

If the focus is on the result list and you start typing. what you type will be shown in the status bar for about 3 seconds (in this case: "s"):

3 seconds after you stop typing, "(Jump to: " will no longer be shown.

I couldn't find a setting to do so.
My advice: Don't look at the status bar when you type in the resultlist :)

It doesn't visually bother me, what I want is for it to be the same behavior as a windows explorer window
For example open a folder with different files that start with the letter "f" or anyone including capital letters (example: focus.dll, Foo.txt, file.avi) and type f for a quick search and highlight file by file with the initial indicated in this case the letter F
meanwhile in Everything I have to write the name of the file

Do you mean pressing f repeatable will cycle through all your files starting with f? -An option to do this is in development.

Cycling through all your files starting with the pressed letter is enabled by default in the Everything 1.5 alpha
