No Windows LongPath Support in 1.5?

Post by JTCGiants56 »

I went to delete a file that had a LongPath in 1.5, and I received the below error. I then tested deleting in 1.4, and it deleted the file no issue.
In 1.5, I was sorting by "Find Size Duplicates", if that makes any difference.

Everything 1.5 will show this error when you are deleting a file to the recycle bin.
The recycle bin does not support really long paths.

This error dialog is to prevent accidental permanent deletion.

Hold down shift while deleting to permanent delete a file with a really long path.

I will look into changing this error dialog with a prompt to permanently delete the file.

Hold down shift while deleting.
Do you mean when you are not deleting a file to the recycle bin, and deleting it permanently? Since when deleting a longpath file, it automatically deletes it permanently and does not put it in the recycle bin first?

Everything 1.4 and 1.5 support permanently deleting files with really long paths.

Everything 1.4 will automatically switch to 'permanent delete' when the delete to recycle bin fails.
This can lead to accidental permanent deletion of the file.

Permanently deleting a file bypasses the recycle bin.

Gotcha, thanks for clarifying. Was just confused by the error message.
