What behaviour is missed when I install without NTFS? ( option: "No NTFS indexing" ) do I miss

Post by Gert »

Hi,
I am installing the lite version: "Everything-1.4.1.1021.x64.Lite-Setup.exe".

I would like to know what is the impact of not enabling the "Everything service" by choosing option "No NTFS indexing".
What behavior shall I miss?

And would there be a workaround for any problems related to the missing behaviour?

Thanks for your time.

NTFS indexing is more efficient than folder indexing.
All file system changes can be detected in real-time with NTFS indexing.
NTFS indexing will take seconds to index your NTFS volumes.

For folder indexing, not all changes can be detected in real-time. (most changes will be detectable in real-time)
Everything will perform daily rescans to keep your folder indexes up to date.
Folder indexing will take minutes to index your NTFS volumes.

If you disabling NTFS indexing, please add your NTFS volumes as a folder index:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Folders tab.
  • Click Add....
  • Select your C: drive and click OK.
  • Click OK.

Great! Thanks very much for the fast response and instructions to add the drives as a folder index.
