I have under 2 000 000 items. If I set a Filter like
Search > Organize Filters... > Edit > Search > kind:email
it works. Very slowly but the task do gets finished; maybe because there is no much to be shown
But if I will use e.g. kind:video or kind:pics then usually it does maybe 18% of progress or something like as little of 5% and stopping until it is re-opened. Also: switching to another a Filter that also uses some other kind does not reset the glitches [and thus re-opening is needed] although normal searches do seem to work A-OK when switched to
All in all: file kinds in Everything are very glitchy - which [when combined with the fact of just extremely how slowly they work] renders them practically unusable
And no: this is not a fault of me not having enough free space, CPU working at 99% or RAM being filled with whatever cluttering temporary data
I am using Everything version 1.5.0.1315a on Windows 10 Enterprise 20H2 19042.746 x64; running on AMD Ryzen 7 5800X with G.Skill Flare X DDR4 DIMM 3200 MHz CL14 32 GB (4X8) utilizing SATA SSDs and M.2 NVMEs

Everything will need to gather the kind property from the Windows Shell.
Gathering this information will take a very long time.
Combine kind with other filters for the best performance.
For example:
c:\windows\media\ kind:music
Use the Audio, Video or Picture filter for instant results.
Prefix your search with si: to search the system index.
For example:
si:kind:pics
si:
