Advanced Search for date recently changed

When I try to use Search > Advanced Search > Date recently changed to select on Date Modified, it doesn't display any items. I think it is because the dialog generates a rc query, but Help > Search Syntax says it should be dm (which does work). Tried it with 1.5.0.1366a, same result.

date recent change is a relic from the past (IMO) and less useful than using date modified.

Couple of examples:

Shouldn't the GUI for Recently Changed actually be Modified Date? There's no other modified date field, and Recently Changed shows as not requiring extra indexing.

There is a Date Modified field (see screenshot), but the date settings are split by the Size settings. That is confusing ...

The Advanced Search is one of the features that is yet to be updated. I hope your pointers will be taken into account.

You're right, I missed it.

When you open the Advanced Search dialog, it is scrolled to where it last was. It happened to be scrolled so three date related fields were visible: date created, date last accessed, date recently changed. I didn't see the date modified field above the size field, and so figured that "date recently changed" must be its name for "date modified".

I would like to keep recent changes.

It can be useful for tracking renames and other changes to your system.



I will look into hiding the Date Recently Changed field in the advanced search when this option is disabled.

My suggestion would be:

• Swap position of Size and Modified Date so all the date fields are together
• Mark Recently Changed as needing indexing

Everything 1.5.0.1367a moves the date fields together.

The Date recent change field is now only shown when indexing recent changes.



I have on my TODO list to remove "Load USN Journal into the Recent Changes database" when indexing recent changes is disabled.
