'0' results

Post by M1000 »

Hello

The search results is at '0'. There are no search results, when looking for .jpg, or .mp4, zip.

How do I get 'Everything' to search and brings back results? 'Everything' does not search

The following did not work (an answer from the internet) . . .

Tools > options > indexes > force rebuild > apply / Ok

Thank you

Do you see any results when the search is empty?

Please make sure the Everything filter is active under the Search menu.

Please make sure no search options are checked under the Search menu (eg: uncheck match case, uncheck match whole words, uncheck regex)

Have you excluded any files/folders under Tools -> Options -> Exclude?

Please make sure Everything is installed correctly and running as a standard user:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the General tab on the left.
  • Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything.
  • Uncheck Run as administrator.
  • Check Everything Service. (Please make sure this is tick-checked and not square-checked)
  • Click OK.
  • Exit Everything (right click the Everything tray icon and click Exit).
  • Restart Everything.

Please check your volumes are included in your index:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the NTFS tab on the left.
  • For each NTFS volume:
    • Check Include in database.
  • Click OK.

- No

(I did the rest of the instructions and it worked. Thank you very much) Ill be taking a capture of your reply.

Please make sure no search options are checked under the Search menu (eg: uncheck match case, uncheck match whole words, uncheck regex)
- 'Everything' is selected because something has to be chosen.(regarding the menu that has folders, audio, compressed, document, etc)

Have you excluded any files/folders under Tools -> Options -> Exclude?
'enable exclude list' is selected. I never touched it. It that ok to be selected?

Please make sure Everything is installed correctly and running as a standard user:
- I forget if administrator was chosen but its de-selected now.

In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
Click the General tab on the left.
Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything. (this was checked)

Uncheck Run as administrator. (see my answer above. I dont remember)

Check Everything Service. (Please make sure this is tick-checked and not square-checked)
- 'everything service' was already checked

Click OK.
Exit Everything (right click the Everything tray icon and click Exit).
Restart Everything.

Please check your volumes are included in your index:
In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
Click the NTFS tab on the left.
For each NTFS volume:
Check Include in database.
- this was checked

Click OK.

Can an update be created to take care of this?

Thank you again.

I tell everyone that they NEED to have EVERYTHING on their computer!!!! (My favorite program)

Thank you for your support M1000,

Everything likely performed a rebuild after changing settings.
This rebuild has most likely fixed the issue..

You can manually perform a rebuild under Tools -> Options -> Indexes -> Force Rebuild.
