the zoom is unfortunately necessary, but my main suggestion to tweak or optimize the editor's screen is mainly one of compromise on my part because of bad eye sight.

The filter editor and the bookmark editors need to shrink more when resizing the window.

Notice all that ugly gray area? That's free space we can use when resizing the window.

Tested UAC, so after enabling it and rebooting, now Ev runs as a normal user not admin.

but the shares still show as offline.

Also now when I check Run as admin in options/general, it restarts right-away as admin with the uac prompt, standard behaviour. No prompt after reboot, also normal.

ok so i cleaned out all regs that have anything to do with everything64

all folders in c:

scanned for viruses, mbam too. system is clear.

installed ev1335a and it too is doing it, showing shares as offline. Curiouser and curiouser

I'm thinking it's something else than everything.

maybe it's something in the registry. uninstalling Ev leaves some reg entries but before cleaning them up, I'm looking through them to see if anything is out of sorts, not that I know what I'm looking for.

I'll reboot after and reinstall ev1337a to see...

that's exactly what I've done and I just have no idea what makes it run as admin.

the Ev service works fine, no problem there.

but the program is just starting in admin for some reason.

no multiple copies of Everything, just the alpha.

oh and ps: Ev launches as admin every time, regardless of the checkbox.

i deleted the shortcuts and relaunched Ev directly with the exe, still happens.

ev is missing some properties for mkv files, the Video bit rate and Audio bit rate, there maybe others.

but most other props work fine, lenght, resolution, etc.

I've checked the auto include and remove checkboxes and then I read through the ini file, I found that everything does write the values but after relaunching is doesn't read them right

I noticed the checkboxes in settings -> Fat, NTFS, REFS and Network drives are always unchecked after closing Everything through File -> Exit and relaunching it again.

I've tested with Everything running as admin, as non admin, with or without the service, no difference.
i even ran the /flush_file ...

where it shows the "codec id"
i was expecting to see the Video Format instead,

for example according to mediainfo:

i have 1.4.1.877 (x32 and x64 installed on various machines) and none of them find an update for Version 1.4.1.895 released Friday, 9 February 2018.

it was released a month a go but i use Everything every day, it should've seen the update. i even tested with AV off.

is this a known ...

same thing as op , i would like to try this so i've setup all my pcs to use a network path to the Everything database. it's easier than having 2 etp servers (one is up 24/7 but has old usb2 ports. the other is a laptop with usb3 ports so i connect my usb drives to it)

one thing i've noticed using an ETP server with my tablet is that whenever i do a file function like rename or delete or move, Everything on the tablet (client) doesn't refresh automatically with the new info.

i have to manually refresh the display with F5.

just wondering if i may have missed a ...

i was thinking, your idea to rescan the files (as mentioned in your post above mine here), it doesn't have to be automatic, but it could be manual, simply by right-clicking the drive in explorer we could add/refresh the drive into the database.

hmm, v1.41.877 seems to not have the sorting problem on start (i may have changed an option in prefs, home, search use last value, that may have something to do with it?).

but still doesn't refresh after file op.

Just adding a bit of missing info from my previous post: i connect to a 64bit Everything server via an etp connection from a 32bit device in the prefs, but not using the service on the 32bit client only on the 64bit server.

And only starting the client interface when needed and it connects to the ...
